Customs Seize Marijuana, Ecstasy Worth Rs. 114 Million at Karachi Airport

Pakistan Customs at Jinnah International Airport, Karachi, successfully foiled two attempts to smuggle drugs worth Rs. 114 million into Pakistan through the International Mail Office, Karachi. In the first case, 1.69 kg of marijuana worth Rs. 52 million was detected. The parcel was declared as containing ‘amulets’ and had arrived from Thailand. In the second case, 1,945 MDMA (Ecstasy) pills worth Rs. 62 million were found in a parcel labeled as a ‘vacuum cleaner’ that arrived from Belgium. The surge in global e-commerce has significantly increased the volume of goods crossing borders. With that growth comes heightened risk, as criminal networks and individuals increasingly attempt to exploit the mail system for drug trafficking. The effective performance of Pakistan Customs officers and officials continues to result in the interception of significant quantities of illicit drugs, preventing harm before it reaches communities.
