Digital currency could be launched in Pakistan as the legal tender and the equivalent of banknotes, said Governor State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) Jameel Ahmed while talking to the media during the Monetary Policy announcement held on Monday.
He added that the central bank has developed its capacity building with technical human resources internally and carried out extensive research on every aspect of the digital currency and its utility in Pakistan.
The SBP team reached an agreement that digital currency could work efficiently in Pakistan.
The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has sent its recommendations to the government of Pakistan and sought a policy-level agreement for the legal protection of digital currency and its utility in Pakistan, said the SBP Governor.
The cabinet will review the legal aspects and take the final decision about the launch of digital currency in Pakistan.
