Farrukh H. Sabzwari Appointed As CEO Pakistan Stock Exchange
The Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) has confirmed Farrukh H. Sabzwari as the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Pakistan Stock Exchange Limited (PSX) for three years, effective November 18, 2024.
Farrukh H. Sabzwari brings over 25 years of experience in investment banking and capital markets. He previously worked as CEO and Managing Director of KASB Securities, Country Head for CLSA Emerging Markets in Pakistan, and senior positions with CLSA in New York and Credit Suisse in Indonesia and Singapore, focusing on APAC and Frontier Markets.
Sabzwari has also served as SECP Commissioner from 2018 to 2021, during which he introduced key initiatives, such as enhanced KYC/AML protocols in line with FATF standards, launched ETFs, revamped REIT regulations, and created Emlaak, a mutual fund investment portal. His governance contributions also include stewardship guidelines for institutional investors.
Sabzwari has held advisory roles, including a directorship on Hugobank’s board and a co-opted membership with the Capital Markets Advisory Council.
