FBR Continues Crackdown on Smuggled Cigarettes
The Inland Revenue Enforcement Network (IREN) and the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) have intensified countrywide operations against smuggled and non-duty paid cigarettes. ALSO READ FBR Announces Procedures to Avail Tax Exemptions for Industries in Tribal Areas The IREN Rawalpindi Team has confiscated 1,800,000 cigarettes worth Rs. 5.67 million found in 180 cartons in a case of attempted evasion of the payment of Rs. 3.79 million in duty and tax. ALSO READ FBR Extends Deadline for Updation of Taxpayer’s Profile Till June 30 The IREN is operating actively all over Pakistan to restrict the trade of illegal cigarettes. Its teams work under Regional Coordinators in all the major cities, and under the Central Coordinator, Intelligence and Investigation, Islamabad.
