The federal government has allowed re-employed pensioners to draw their pensions alongside their salaries, provided the salary is reduced by an amount equal to their gross pension.
This decision offers relief to thousands of re-employed pensioners serving in 36 key departments, including the President Secretariat, Prime Minister Secretariat, Supreme Court, Senate Secretariat, National Assembly Secretariat, and the Election Commission of Pakistan.
Previously, the Ministry of Finance had restricted such employees from receiving both salary and pension, requiring them to choose one. It was noted that finding experts from the private sector without conflicts of interest was also a challenge.
In response to these concerns, the Ministry of Finance revised its policy, allowing re-employed pensioners to continue working while receiving both forms of compensation, with the necessary deduction from their salaries.
