Govt Ends Nearly 12,000 Jobs Under New Policy
The federal government has abolished 11,877 positions under its rightsizing policy aimed at reducing expenditures and restructuring federal ministries and subordinate institutions. Details of the eliminated posts were presented in the National Assembly by the Cabinet Division. According to official documents seen by ProPakistani, positions ranging from Grade 1 to Grade 22 have been removed as part of the initiative. The highest number of cuts occurred in lower-grade positions, with 11,764 posts from Grade 1 to Grade 18 being abolished. Additionally, 113 high-ranking positions from Grade 19 to Grade 22 have also been eliminated. Documents further showed that the most affected category includes Grade 1 to Grade 4 positions, which primarily consist of support staff. The government argues that this restructuring is necessary to enhance efficiency. Overall, more than 5,000 posts have been removed across various departments. The government maintains that the rightsizing policy will help curb unnecessary expenditures and improve administrative efficiency in the public sector.
