The Power Division has disclosed the scale of its nationwide crackdown on electricity theft during 2024, revealing that more than 200,000 First Information Reports (FIRs) were registered against individuals involved in power pilferage.
According to official documents seen by ProPakistani, over 61,000 suspects were arrested during the anti-theft drive. The campaign also led to the issuance of detection bills exceeding Rs. 12 billion.
Out of the total billed amount, the Power Division successfully recovered more than Rs. 5.49 billion, marking a big step in recovering stolen electricity revenue and deterring future violations.
It is still concerning that despite the government’s crackdown, individuals still continue to steal more electricity as power bills continue to get out of control and financially out of reach of lower-income groups.
