The federal government has formed a 13-member committee to monitor the implementation plan to activate Gwadar Port.
According to the notification issued by the cabinet division, the federal cabinet has approved to form of a 13-member cabinet committee under the chair of Federal Minister for Planning Ahsan Iqbal to finalize the Gwadar Port Operationalization Plan.
The committee members include the Minister of Defense, Minister of Maritime Affairs, Minister of Commerce, and Minister of Communications, while the Secretary to the Minister of Maritime Affairs, Secretary to Foreign Affairs, Secretary to Commerce, Secretary to Railways and DG NLC, Chairman NHA, Chairman FBR have been included.
According to! Notification, the government has decided to expedite the operationalization of Gwadar Port.
The committee will review several issues hindering the operationalization of Gwadar Port.
The committee will review the lack of internal connectivity, insufficient financial incentives, and the fragile security situation and formulate recommendations.
The committee will finalize the plan with actionable steps to resolve the issues.
According to the notification, the committee will organize an international conference in Islamabad to raise awareness about Gwadar Port and develop a comprehensive marketing strategy for Gwadar Port.
The committee will monitor the implementation of the plan to activate Gwadar Port.
According to the notification, the committee will formulate a strategy to accelerate diplomatic outreach to attract the economic and trade interests of Central Asian republics and other countries in Gwadar Port.
The Ministry of Maritime Affairs will provide secretarial support to the committee, while the committee will submit its report to the cabinet within 30 days.
