Govt Increases Petrol Price Ahead of Eid
The federal government has decided to increase the price of petrol for the next fortnight. This time, the rate of HSD has been kept unchanged while petrol has been increased by Rs. 1 per litre. The new rate of petrol is Rs. 253.63 per litre and Rs. 254.64 for diesel. At the last fortnightly review of petroleum prices, the federal government kept the rate of petrol unchanged but cut High-Speed Diesel’s (HSD) price by Rs. 2 per litre. This surprise comes despite negative fluctuations in international oil rates where premium grades like WTI and Brent both saw a cumulative 1.3 percent decline in their prices. In the previous adjustment on 16 May, the prices of both petrol were kept unchanged while diesel was reduced to 254.64 per litre.
