Pakistan has issued its first license for Blockchain-based High Performance Computing (HPC) to the Higgs Computing Limited data center in a big push towards digital transformation.
The license was issued by the government-led Special Technology Zones Authority (STZA). The initiative has been backed by key institutions, including the Ministry of IT and Telecom and the State Bank of Pakistan.
The HPC project, which integrates Blockchain, Artificial Intelligence, and Big Data, is expected to attract substantial investment and generate $1.5 to $2 million in foreign exchange annually.
The new data center will initially operate with 7 megawatts of electricity, offering an innovative solution for utilizing the country’s excess power capacity. Sources said the use of Blockchain will enhance transparency and security in digital operations.
Government officials see this development as a “revolutionary initiative” and a key milestone in advancing Pakistan’s digital infrastructure and economic diversification.
