Govt Seeks Budget Proposals from IT, Telecom, and Mobile Industries
The Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication (MoITT) has requested budget proposals from key stakeholders, including the IT industry, telecom sector, mobile phone manufacturers, and fiber-optic companies, ahead of the federal budget for 2025-26. The deadline for submitting proposals is set for March 10. Sources told ProPakistani that the proposals will focus on policies and incentives to boost digital infrastructure, enhance local manufacturing, and strengthen Pakistan’s IT exports. The government aims to address sectoral challenges, including high taxation, regulatory hurdles, and investment constraints, through these recommendations. Industry leaders have been urged to submit comprehensive proposals covering areas such as broadband expansion, data centers, cloud computing, cybersecurity, and digital payments. The telecom sector is expected to advocate for tax reductions on mobile devices and network equipment, while the IT industry is likely to seek incentives for software exports and freelancer support. Once submitted, the proposals will be reviewed by MoITT and relevant government departments before being incorporated into the final budget framework. A series of consultations with stakeholders is expected to ensure that the budget aligns with the industry’s growth objectives.
