Govt Starts Implementing EV Charging Infrastructure Policy
The federal government has begun implementing its Electric Vehicle (EV) Charging Infrastructure Policy, with detailed plans submitted to the Senate, officials told ProPakistani. Under the policy, the Ministry of Industries and Production, alongside the Power Division, has been granted authority to frame rules and regulations for EV infrastructure. Seventy-two distribution companies have already received licenses to operate EV chargers. The government aims to establish 3,000 EV charging stations nationwide by 2030, including 240 new stations in the current fiscal year. These stations will be developed with contributions from both public and private sectors. Monitoring and regulation of the EV charging network will be carried out by the Industries and Production Ministry, Power Division, and NEPRA, with relevant institutions given special powers to facilitate the rollout.
