The government has moved to provide a one-month exemption on electricity bills for citizens affected by recent floods.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has directed the finance minister to engage with the International Monetary Fund regarding a relief package on electricity bills for flood-affected areas, sources told ProPakistani.
Discussions with the IMF are expected to also focus on a proposal to waive one month of electricity bills for residents of regions hit by recent flooding, the sources said.
The planned relief will cover both urban and rural consumers in areas severely impacted by the disaster, the sources added.
