Govt Withdraws Regulatory Duty and Reduces Sales Tax on LPG

The government has withdrawn regulatory duty of Rs 4,669 per metric ton on the import of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG). The duty has been withdrawn in order to decrease the prices in the domestic market. It was also decided that sales tax on imported LPG would be charged at a reduced rate of 10 percent. Petroleum Minister Ghulam Sarwar Khan said that LPG cylinder price had been reduced from about Rs 1600 to Rs 1400. The gas rate was increased a little to meet the Rs 158 billion deficit incurred by the last government. ALSO READ CNG Prices Could Go Up by Rs 15 In this regard, the FBR has issued SRO.1200(I)/2018 to amend SRO.640(I)/2018 on Thursday. According to the notification, the FBR has withdrawn the entry number 72 (RD on LPG at Rs4,669/metric ton) from SRO.640(I)/2018. Through the instant notification, the FBR amended SRO 640(I)/2018 dated May 24, 2018, by deleting serial number 72 and the relevant entries in the table.
