High Octane Fuel Demand Hits Record 35,000 Tons

High Octane Blending Component (HOBC) sales reached an all-time high of 35,000 tons in November 2025. ‘ According to Topline Securities, this rise was primarily driven by competitive pricing, as the price gap between HOBC and Motor Spirit (MS) has narrowed. This smaller differential has encouraged consumers, especially owners of turbo-engine vehicles, to shift toward HOBC for better engine performance. This comes just after Sunday when the government ordered to reduce prices of major petroleum products. The price of Motor Spirit (petrol) has been cut by Rs. 2.00 per litre, with the new rate set at Rs. 263.45, compared to the previous price of Rs. 265.45. Similarly, the price of High-Speed Diesel (HSD) has been reduced by Rs. 4.79 per litre, bringing it down from Rs. 284.44 to Rs. 279.65. The petroleum division said the price revision aims to provide relief to consumers amid fluctuating global oil prices.
