The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has recommended that Pakistan expand its asset declaration requirements to include officials appointed on Special Pay Scale (SPS), in addition to regular government officers, sources informed ProPakistani.
According to sources, the government is working on a plan to bring SPS officials, serving at both federal and provincial levels, under the asset declaration regime.
The move will require directors, legal advisors, project directors, and special experts on SPS to declare their assets, similar to the requirements for regular civil servants.
A formal mechanism is expected to be established to ensure compliance, with the second phase of the initiative focusing on SPS officials. The step is part of efforts to enhance transparency and accountability in public service, as recommended by the IMF.
