Karachi Gas Pocket Fire Mysteriously Extinguishes After 18 Days

A fire that had been raging for 18 days in a gas pit in Karachi has mysteriously run out. The blaze, which began on March 29 during water boring on an empty plot belonging to a private housing society near Korangi Crossing, died out suddenly without external intervention. However, gas continues to leak from the pit. The smell of the gas has permeated the surrounding area, and authorities have restricted access to prevent any health or safety hazards. The pressure of the gas emerging from the site remains unchanged. The site has been under observation since it was first reported last month. Officials from the Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission conducted a survey while teams from Pakistan Petroleum Limited and other oil sector entities assessed the area to determine the cause of the fire. Mineral tests were also carried out as part of the investigation.
