Multan Customs Enforcement, Dera Ghazi Khan, has foiled a major smuggling attempt, seizing 3,040 kilograms of smuggled betel nuts concealed beneath a coal consignment.
Officials said the recovered goods, along with the truck used for transportation, are valued at approximately Rs. 15 million.
According to Customs sources, the consignment comprised 80 bags of smuggled betel nuts, which have been confiscated under the Customs Act, 1969.
Betel nut isn’t essential for meetha paan, but many vendors include it in small amounts. This nut can be addictive and harmful.
The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) reaffirmed its commitment to curb smuggling, safeguard the national economy, and enforce strict compliance with customs laws at all entry and checkpoint locations across the country.
