Net-Metering Hits New High Despite Fall in Grid Production

Net metering has continued its upward momentum in October 2025, with its share in total power generation rising by 112 basis points year-on-year, driven by growing solar adoption and reduced reliance on the national grid. Month-on-month, net-metered units saw a sharp 43.3 percent increase, which simply shows the rapid expansion of rooftop solar installations across the country. Despite this growth, overall power generation fell 3.7 percent year-on-year during the month. NEPRA projects that national power demand will still rise by 2.8 percent in FY25, reflecting a gradual recovery in economic activity.
