New Domestic Airline Seeks License for Commercial Operations

The management of the newly incorporated airline – Air Karachi has sought a commercial license of Regular Public Transport (RPT) Operator from the aviation regulator for launching commercial operations, including cargo and passenger flights on domestic and international routes. The management submitted its formal application for obtaining an RPT License, along with a detailed business plan and all requisite documents as per requirements, according to a letter submitted to the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA). “We aim to operate as a Regular Public Transport (RPT) Operator, providing scheduled passenger and cargo services on domestic and international routes. We aim to achieve this under the license to be granted by CAA Pakistan,” the letter said. It added, “The management team at Air Karachi brings extensive experience in the aviation sector in Pakistan and is fully equipped to mobilize the necessary resources and personnel to launch this venture. We commend the implementation of the National Aviation Policy 2023, which encourages a liberal operating framework, creating a level playing field. and facilitates the entry of new stakeholders into the aviation business”. Registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) in November 2024, the Karachi-based business announced to seize the promising opportunities available in the aviation industry after the government attempts to privatize Pakistan International Airline (PIA) last year.
