The double standards of Pakistan Customs emerged on registration of First Information Report (FIR) on smuggling of luxury mobile phones worth millions of rupees.
Sources said that the Collectorate of Customs New Islamabad Airport detained imported mobile phones, including Apple iPhone 16 Pro Max from two passengers coming from Sharjah and Thailand on February 19, 2025.
The Customs officials recovered around 50 Apple iPhone 7 during search of the baggage from passenger named Ruihong Lue, subsequently all these phones were detained.
Meanwhile, Customs officials also detained 60 iPhone 16 Pro Max having a value of Rs. 21,442,837 from Zahoor Ahmed and FIR No. 04/2025 was also lodged against him.
Sources said that Customs officials registered FIR against Pakistani passengers but did not register FIR against foreign national coming from Bangkok.
The scribe asked Chief Collector of Customs New Islamabad Airport for comments on this matter, but no reply was received till the filing of the story.
