Remittances sent by overseas Pakistanis increased by 16 percent year-on-year (YoY) to $3.7 billion during May 2025, according to latest data by the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP).
The remittances during the month were also higher by 13.7 percent on a year-on-year basis. The increase during the month was primarily driven by higher amounts sent by overseas Pakistanis due to Eid-ul-Azha.
The remittances number for May 2025 is the second highest on record, only behind remittances of $4.2 billion recorded in Marcy 2025.
The May 2025 inflows pushed the remittances for 11MFY25 to $34.9 billion, a record number for the 11-month period. For 11MFY25, remittances have increased by a whopping 28.8 percent compared to inflows over $27.1 billion in 11MFY24.
Remittances inflows during May 2025 were mainly sourced from Saudi Arabia ($913.9 million), United Arab Emirates ($754.2 million), United Kingdom ($588.1 million) and United States of America ($314.7 million).
