Pakistan’s Ministry of Economic Affairs announced on Friday that it has successfully regained control of its official X (formerly Twitter) account, which had been hacked during the night.
According to the ministry’s spokesperson, the account was compromised by hostile elements who posted controversial content related to ongoing tensions between Pakistan and India. The spokesperson stated that the post had no connection to the ministry and was intended to malign Pakistan in the eyes of international organisations.
“The enemy hacked the account and posted inappropriate content concerning Pakistan-India tensions,” the spokesperson said. “It was a deliberate attempt to damage Pakistan’s reputation globally.”
The spokesperson further confirmed that the controversial post had been removed and that the account has now been temporarily deactivated as a security precaution.
The ministry credited the swift coordination between its team and relevant government institutions for successfully neutralising the threat. “Through joint efforts, the conspiracy to defame Pakistan was effectively foiled,” the spokesperson added.
