Pakistan’s seafood exports reached $173.750 million during the first five months of the current financial year, while meat exports stood at $149.915 million, showing steady growth compared to last year, according to official data.
Figures released by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics show that fish and fish preparations exports grew by 7.03 percent during July to November 2025. During this period, 75,766 metric tons of fish and fish products were exported, compared to 75,336 metric tons worth $162.334 million in the same period last year.
Meat and meat preparations exports also recorded an increase of 7.12 percent. About 47,990 metric tons of meat valued at $215.944 million were exported during the five-month period, compared to 47,507 metric tons worth $201.586 million in the corresponding period last year.
Fresh fruit exports showed strong performance as well. Pakistan earned $149.915 million by exporting 240,297 metric tons of fresh fruits during the first five months of the current financial year, up from $132.577 million earned from 220,574 metric tons in the same period last year.
However, rice exports declined sharply during the period. Exports fell by 49.24 percent to 1.425 million metric tons valued at $769.294 million, compared to 2.377 million metric tons worth $1.515 billion exported in the same period of the previous year. On the import side, food group imports increased significantly. During the first five months of the current financial year, food imports rose by 28.33 percent to $3.847 billion, compared to $2.998 billion recorded in the same period last year.
