The Prime Minister has approved the formation of a Search and Selection Committee for the appointment of the Chairperson and two Members of the Pakistan Digital Authority (PDA) under the Digital Nation Pakistan Act, 2025.
The Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication (MoITT) has issued a formal notification confirming the committee’s composition and mandate.
According to the notification, Federal Minister for IT and Telecom Shaza Fatima has been appointed as the convener of the committee.
Other members include the Federal Minister for Economic Affairs, Minister of State for Railways, Finance and PMDU Bilal Azhar Kayani, Secretaries of the Establishment Division, Cabinet Division, and IT & Telecom Division, as well as Salman Akhtar, a member of the PRAL Board.
The committee is tasked with identifying and shortlisting suitable candidates for the three vacant posts. It will recommend three candidates for each position to the Prime Minister, based on their qualifications and experience. The same committee will also propose salary packages and other benefits for the selected Chairperson and Members.
As per the notification, the committee holds the authority to engage with the shortlisted candidates to finalize the terms and conditions of their employment. The appointments are part of the operationalization process of the Pakistan Digital Authority, which is expected to play a central role in implementing the country’s digital governance and regulatory framework.
