The Prime Minister has constituted an 8-member committee to review the taxation regime for Newly Merged Districts, also known as FATA.
According to the letter, FBR, on the recommendation of the PM office, has constituted an eight-member committee under the supervision of Rana Sana Ullah Khan, Federal Minister for IPC/ Adviser to PM on Political & Public Affairs for Taxation Regime For Newly Merged Districts in KP.
The other members of the committee will be Amir Muqam, Minister of State for Finance & Reveme, Chairman FBR, Chief Secretary, KPK, Rep. of Pakistan Association of Large Steel Production, Representative of PVMA, and Zahidullah Shinwari Ex-President KPCCI.
The TORs of the Committee include Strategize implementation of the recommendations of the report of the Steering Committee on Prime Minister’s Programme for Newly Merged Districts constituted on 10.06.2024, Reviewing the prevalent exemption regime and its impact in terms of revenue foregone and issues of misuse affecting industries in areas under taxation, Recommend way forward to bring these areas under taxation regime especially after the expiry of these exemptions on 30th June 2025 as recommended by the PM’s program for NMDs and engage with the stakeholders to develop awareness and to facilitate the industry in NMDs for its transition to normal tus regime.
The Committee shall submit its report/recommendations within 04 weeks for perusal consideration of the Prime Minister and FBR shall provide secretarial support to the Committee.
