Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is set to announce the Uraan Pakistan, a transformative initiative designed to spotlight and advance crucial projects and reforms set forth in the 5Es National Economic Transformation Plan, on Tuesday.
Under the proposed plan, the government aims to guide Pakistan toward sustainable and high economic growth. The plan’s primary goal is to grow Pakistan’s economy from its current size of $374 billion to $1 trillion by 2035.
To achieve this, the plan sets ambitious targets including boosting annual economic growth to 9.8 percent, increasing literacy rates by 10 percent to reach 70 percent, and reducing poverty by 13 percent.
With the new plan, the prime minister has also set a target of $60 billion in exports by 2029 and increasing IT exports by $5 billion per year. There is also a plan to set up 100 software technology parks to support this growth.
The 5Es Plan is central to URAAN Pakistan’s objectives, addressing five critical areas essential for Pakistan’s development. The 5Es Plan aims to enhance the export sector to drive economic growth, increase foreign exchange earnings, and boost the country’s global trade position.
Accelerate digital transformation to enhance operational efficiency, promote innovation, and improve Pakistan’s competitiveness on the global stage. Implement sustainable practices to address climate change, protect natural resources, and ensure water and food security for long-term ecological balance.
Develop affordable, efficient, and green energy solutions to support industrial growth, reduce energy costs, and ensure energy security. Promote social justice by ensuring that all segments of society benefit from economic progress.
