The Public Accounts Committee (PAC) of the National Assembly reviewed 41,700 audit objections over the past 14 years but managed to resolve only 4,986 cases (12 percent).
Decisions are still pending on 36,718 objections.
Sources disclosed with ProPakistani that more than 13,000 cases were reviewed but no resolution was reached during PAC’s 14-year history.
Sector-wise, the Power Division had 4,197 audit objections, of which only 210 were resolved. The Petroleum Division saw 802 out of 3,344 objections disposed of, while just 515 out of 2,949 audit objections of the Ministry of Interior were resolved.
The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) was able to get 431 out of 2,359 objections resolved, while the Ministry of Communications just 228 out of 2,325.
The Ministry of Industries had 2,265 audit objections, and the committee settled just 168.
The committee sorted out 109 out of 1,909 cases submitted by the Ministry of Defence, and just 81 out of 1,692 audit objections tabled by the Ministry of Finance.
PAC addressed and resolved just 234 out of 1,599 objections of the Ministry of Water Resources, and the Defence Productions sector was able to get just 196 out of 1,577 cases sorted out.
