Rupee Rises 32nd Consecutive Day Against US Dollar
The Pakistani rupee (PKR) closed in green against the US Dollar (USD) 32nd day in a row on Friday. It also posted losses against some of the other major currencies during today’s session. The PKR appreciated by 0.01 percent DoD and closed at 280.82 after gaining three paisas against the US Dollar today. On a fiscal year-to-date basis (FYTD), the PKR has gained 1.10 percent against the US Dollar. The US economic shutdown continues to impact the US Dollar against many currencies, which would normally close in red against it most of the week. The PKR has remained on a positive trend so far and may continue this trajectory as the US economy remains in shutdown-phase. The PKR was green against most of the other major currencies in the interbank market today. It was stable against the UAE Dirham (AED) and also the Saudi Riyal (SAR). Meanwhile, it gained 19 against the Canadian Dollar (CAD). The rupee gained 79 paisas against the Australian Dollar (AUD) in today’s interbank currency market. It lost 66 paisas against the Euro (EUR) and Rs. 1.63 against the British Pound (GBP).
