The Pakistani rupee (PKR) closed in green against the US Dollar (USD) 31st day in a row on Thursday.
However, it posted losses against most of the other major currencies during today’s session.
The PKR appreciated by 0.004 percent DoD and closed at 280.85 after gaining one paisa against the US Dollar today.
On a fiscal year-to-date basis (FYTD), the PKR has gained 1.09 percent against the US Dollar.
The rupee maintained its upward momentum after US President Donald Trump yet again mentioned Pakistan during a speech on Wednesday. According to the US President, Pakistan shot down 8 Indian jets during the May 2025 conflict between the two countries.
Previously, Trump said seven “brand-new, beautiful planes were shot down” during the brief military escalation between Pakistan and India. Now, he has increased the tally to 8. Markets took it as a positive, several traders said in a comment.
The PKR was red against most of the other major currencies in the interbank market today.
It was stable against the UAE Dirham (AED) and also the Saudi Riyal (SAR).
Meanwhile, it lost nine paisas against the Canadian Dollar (CAD).
The rupee lost 47 paisas against the Australian Dollar (AUD) in today’s interbank currency market.
It lost 53 paisas against the Euro (EUR) and 73 paisas against the British Pound (GBP).
