The Sindh government has approved subsidies on fertilizer and seeds for wheat and rice crops, besides a mechanization plan for small farmers.
The decision was made during a meeting chaired by Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah with the agriculture, food, and irrigation departments.
The agriculture department was directed to prepare a four-year support package for small farmers. The plan will include rental-based laser land levelling and manual seeder hand pushers for those owning 1-25 acres of land.
According to the government, laser land levelling can save 20–30 percent of irrigation water, cut irrigation time by 50 percent, increase yields by 6–10 percent, and boost farm income by 20 percent. It also helps prevent waterlogging and salinity.
Departments were further instructed to educate growers on water availability, modern technology, and farming practices to support efficient crop planning.
