Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) has announced a renewed campaign to cut off gas connections of consumers using compressors to artificially boost gas pressure.
The move comes after the company received numerous complaints regarding the unfair use of compressors, which disrupts gas supply for other households.
In a statement issued on Monday, an SNGPL spokesperson urged consumers to refrain from using such devices, emphasizing that it deprives others of their fair share of gas. “We strongly advise consumers to avoid using compressors, as this harms the supply for others,” the spokesperson said.
“We will soon launch a drive to disconnect the gas supply to those found violating this rule,” he added. The spokesperson assured that SNGPL is striving to provide an uninterrupted gas supply, especially during peak hours.
While acknowledging that some areas, particularly at the tail-end of pipelines, face pressure challenges, he maintained that most regions receive gas at the required levels.
For assistance, consumers can report issues by calling the 1199 helpline or visiting any of the 181 complaint centers, which operate 24/7 to address gas-related concerns.
