Soneri Bank Partners with Euronet Pakistan to Transform Credit Cards and Acquiring Business
Soneri Bank Limited, one of Pakistan’s leading financial institutions, has entered into a strategic partnership with Euronet Pakistan, a division of Euronet Worldwide (NASDAQ: EEFT) and a global leader in secure electronic transaction processing. This collaboration marks a significant milestone in Soneri Bank’s digital transformation journey, enabling a comprehensive modernization of its cards and acquiring business under a fully outsourced and managed services model. Through this partnership, Euronet will provide an end-to-end card and payments platform supporting credit card issuance and POS acquiring, equipped with future-ready capabilities to expand Soneri Bank’s broader cards and digital payments ecosystem. The solution, hosted on Euronet’s PCI DSS–compliant infrastructure at its state-of-the-art data center facilities in Pakistan, ensures high availability, guaranteed service levels, and robust data security aligned with global standards. The engagement also includes advanced services such as tokenization and Google Pay enablement, empowering Soneri Bank to introduce contactless and secure payment options for its customers. This will enable the Bank to deliver seamless, omnichannel payment experiences across digital and physical touchpoints—further reinforcing its position as an innovator in Pakistan’s banking sector. By adopting Euronet’s managed services model, Soneri Bank will gain agility in product rollouts, reduce operational complexity, and enhance scalability—allowing the Bank to focus on customer-centric innovation and growth while Euronet manages the underlying infrastructure. The signing ceremony was attended by senior leadership from both organizations. Representing Soneri Bank were Mr. Muhtashim Ashai (CEO), Mr. Ahsan Mushahid (DCEO), Mr. Muhammad Salman (CIO), and Syed Amir Raza (CD&IO). From Euronet Pakistan, attendees included Mr. Kashif Gaya (CEO), Mr. Dawer Khan (Head of Development and Operations), and Mr. Faisal Amin (Head of Business Development). Mr. Muhtashim Ashai, CEO Soneri Bank Limited, stated:“We are excited to partner with Euronet and leverage their global expertise in managing large-scale card portfolios and acquiring solutions. This partnership marks a major step in our digital transformation, enabling us to deliver innovative, secure, and convenient payment experiences to our customers. Together with Euronet, we aim to create a best-in-class payments ecosystem aligned with our vision of seamless and differentiated banking.” Mr. Kashif Gaya, CEO of Euronet Pakistan, added: “We are delighted to form this long-term partnership with Soneri Bank and to serve as their technology partner for card and acquiring operations. Our collaboration reflects a shared vision to advance Pakistan’s digital payments landscape through secure, scalable, and innovative technology. We look forward to supporting Soneri Bank as they expand their card programs and digital initiatives.” The partnership between Soneri Bank and Euronet Pakistan underscores both organizations shared commitment to fostering digital financial inclusion and advancing Pakistan’s payments infrastructure. By leveraging Euronet’s global technology and operational excellence, Soneri Bank is well-positioned to expand its digital payments business along with fast-growing branch network in the country, introduce cutting-edge products, and meet the growing demands of consumers and merchants in an increasingly digital economy.
