In a fiery exchange during a meeting of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) today, Member of National Assembly (MNA) Aamir Dogar claimed that the majority of the country’s sugar mills are owned by President Asif Ali Zardari, Jahangir Tareen, and the Sharif family.
The lawmaker accused these political elites of profiteering at the expense of the public.
Shazia Marri and other PAC members objected to political name-calling and reminded the forum that PAC is not a political battleground.
Dogar refused to retract his remarks and insisted that these families have been exploiting the system for decades.
